INSTALLATION:
To install the PC COMPILERS 99 CD-ROM, log onto your CD-ROM
drive and type "SETUP." You will be prompted for the destination
for the PC COMPILERS 99 program. The setup routine will copy
some necessary DLLs into the Windows directory and the program files
into the directory you specify.
ERRORS:
IF YOU ENCOUNTER AN ERROR DURING SETUP, THERE MAY BE A
CONFLICT WITH A DEVICE DRIVER. PLEASE REBOOT YOUR COMPUTER AND PRESS
THE "SHIFT" KEY WHEN WINDOWS LOADS TO PREVENT ANY PROGRAMS FROM LOADING.
THEN RUN THE SETUP PROGRAM AGAIN. IF YOU STILL HAVE PROBLEMS RUNNING
SETUP, PRESS "CTL-ALT-DEL" TO BRING UP THE "CLOSE PROGRAM" BOX AND
HIGHLIGHT ANY NON-ESSENTIAL PROGRAMS AND CLICK "END TASK." THEN TRY
RUNNING SETUP AGAIN. IF YOU ARE STILL UNABLE TO RUN SETUP, USE THE
MANUAL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS BELOW.
MANUAL INSTALLATION - RUN \SETUP2\SETUP2.BAT
If you encounter an error when installing the software or if you have
unusual hardware that will not allow installation, you can manually
install the software by running the batch file "SETUP2.BAT" in the
\SETUP2 directory on the CD-ROM. This will create a subdirectory called
"C:\COMPILERS" on your hard drive, then copy some program files to that
directory. Some program files will also be uncompressed into
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM and "COMPILERS.INI" copied into your C:\WINDOWS directory.
A link to COMPILERS.EXE will also be place on your Windows Desktop.
Please note that if any of your directories do not match those above
you will have to edit the batch file to reflect the correct directories.
You will also have to edit the "COMPILERS.INI" file to reflect the correct
paths. See below for more information.
*****DO NOT OVERWRITE ANY EXISTING FILES IF PROMPTED!*****
To edit "COMPILERS.INI" click on the "START" button, then "RUN" then
"EDIT C:\WINDOWS\COMPILERS.INI." Change the database entry to reflect the
path where the program is installed, e.g., "D:\COMPILERS\COMPILERS.MDB."
You must include "COMPILERS.MDB" and the end of the path. Next, make sure
the CDPath entry is correct, e.g., "CDPath=F:\COMPILERS\" where "F:" is the
path to your CD-ROM drive. Make sure and put a "\" at the end.
You may want to create an icon for COMPILERS.EXE or you can press the "START"
button, the "RUN" "C:\COMPILERS\COMPILERS.EXE" (or whatever path you installed
the program to).

file or COMPILERS.DOC.
